Juneau is nestled amid old growth forests and 1500 square miles of ice. It is here that we choose to make our home. We can hike miles of trails through temperate rainforests, across tidal beaches and up mountainsides crisp with alpine meadows. We navigate our boats and kayaks through pristine water to some of the world's best fishing grounds, teeming with wildlife and surprising even Alaskans with the curious stares of seals, sea lions, and porpoise. Alaska is a magical and mystical place blending and challenging the senses. Alaskans live with the land, not on it. It's very essence of earth, ice and richness melds into the beauty that provide sustenance and community. It is the coming together of old worlds and new, of friends and family as months of cold and darkness give way to unending daylight. As our bush pilots are fond of saying, "The adventure begins where the road ends." The road ends after 40 miles here in Juneau - let the adventure begin!
