JUNEAU, AK (Dec. 2, 2021) – The annual beer and seltzer competition season has come to a close for 2021 and Alaskan Brewing Company has won a number of awards to add to their impressive resume. The Brewery’s offerings earned multiple medals at various events in the U.S., Europe and Australia.
Alaskan’s Smoked Porter, one of the most decorated brews in the United States, added three more awards to its long list of accolades. The famed Rauchbier earned a gold medal at the U.S. Open Beer Championships in the Smoked Porter category while also taking home gold at the Australian International Beer Awards and a bronze medal at the European Beer Star competition. The record setting porter has now amassed over 70 awards in national and international competitions since its inception in 1988.
In addition to the Smoked Porter’s success, the brewery’s flagship Alaskan Amber ale took home a bronze medal at the annual Brussels Beer Challenge in the Red Ale category. Their limited release Midnight Haze IPA also got into the action by bringing home a silver medal in the Dark Ale category. A second limited release variety, Strawberry Haze IPA, was awarded a bronze medal at the Australian International Beer Awards with Alaskan’s Husky IPA winning a silver at the same event.
Alaskan’s beer wasn’t the only product to earn recognition at events this year, their hard seltzer varieties also won awards at the U.S. Open Hard Seltzer Championships. Bronze medals were awarded to the Mango Peach, Lemon Lime and Mixed Berry flavors that currently are available in a mixed 12-pack that includes Cherry Grapefruit as well. “We had a very successful 2021 competition season” explained co-founder Geoff Larson. “In the craft brewing industry winning these awards is always an honor, it really is a testament to all the hard work and creativity our team puts in on a daily basis.”
