Juneau, Alaska — Alaskan Brewing Co. has once again proven its brewing excellence, earning three medals at the esteemed European Beer Star 2024 awards. The accolades, announced on November 27 at the BrauBeviale trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany, highlight the brewery’s commitment to crafting world-class beers.
GOLD for Smoked Porter – Smoke Beer Category
Leading the pack is Alaskan Smoked Porter, which clinched the coveted Gold medal. Known for its rich, smoky complexity, Smoked Porter has a storied history at the European Beer Star, with previous medals including Gold (2017), Silver (2018, 2019), and Bronze (2021). The 2024 Gold win reinforces its legacy as a standout in the global beer community.
BRONZE for Amber – Red Ale Category
Alaskan Amber continues its winning streak, securing Bronze in the highly competitive Red Ale category. This marks the second consecutive year Amber has been recognized, following a Silver medal in 2023. Its timeless recipe and balanced flavor have made it a beloved flagship for Alaskan Brewing.
BRONZE for WILDNESS – English-Style Golden Ale Category
The brewery’s English-style Golden Ale, WILDNESS Alaskan Cold Beer, earned its first-ever award, taking home Bronze. A relatively new addition to Alaskan Brewing’s lineup, Wildness has quickly garnered admiration for its bright, golden hues and nuanced flavor profile.
These achievements come after a rigorous blind tasting by an international jury of over 150 beer experts. Competing against more than 2,300 entries from over 50 countries, Alaskan Brewing’s recognition at one of the world’s most prestigious beer competitions underscores its dedication to quality and innovation.
“The European Beer Star is a celebration of authentic, full-flavored beers, and we are honored to have our beers recognized on this global stage,” said Maxwell Rule, CEO of Alaskan Brewing Co. “Each of these awards reflects the passion and hard work our team puts into every brew.”
“Since the start of the European Beer Star in 2004, our competition has focused on beer styles of European origin. However, breweries from all over the world can take part, regardless of whether they are large international breweries or small brewpubs around the corner. With entries from over 50 countries, the European Beer Star is also one of the most international beer competitions. Winning an award at this competition shows that you are at the top of the world in terms of beer quality,” said Stefan Stang from the organizing association Private Brauereien.
