Rated best Coffee Beer among 89 entries in the category
Denver, Colorado (October 7, 2017) – Alaskan Heritage Coffee Brown Ale was awarded a gold medal today at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) in Denver, Colorado. There were 89 entrants in the Coffee Beer category this year.
“It’s very exciting for us because it is a great example of two local businesses in Juneau coming together to make a beer that is now nationally recognized on the biggest stage of our industry” said Alaskan Brewing Plant Manager Curtis Holmes. “GABF has become so competitive that it feels like a great accomplishment to pull off a medal, let alone a gold. We are very humbled and honored to receive this award.”
Heritage Coffee Brown Ale is this year’s Fall seasonal beer for Alaskan Brewing, available through the rest of October in most areas where Alaskan is sold.
Alaskan Heritage Coffee Brown Ale came as a collaboration with Heritage Coffee and Roasters in Juneau, who roasted some of the malt used in the beer with their coffee roaster. They also provided the Paixao Brazilian coffee that was cold-brewed and used in the beer.
“Everyone at Heritage Coffee is excited to hear about this gold medal,” said Heritage Coffee owner Amy Knight. “We really loved doing this collaboration with the brewery and are happy to know that other people are enjoying the Coffee Brown Ale as much as we are!”
In celebration, brewers and roasters and fans are gathering at the brewery in Juneau today to toast the win. For more information on the competition and a complete list of winners, see the Brewer’s Association website at https://www.
