Alaskan Treadwell Barrel-Aged Series: Tree Beer’d Barleywine

ABV 11.2% | IBU 26 | OG 1.100

This barleywine takes inspiration from Alaska’s miles of untamed wilderness, with ingredients including five different types of Alaska trees. Each species imparts its ownvunique flavor, creating a unique beer that’s sure to age as well as an old-growth forest. Birch syrup adds a rich caramel flavor, while Sitka spruce tips contribute a berry-like character. Red & Yellow Cedar shavings in the kettle lend spicy, aromatic notes. Alder smoked malt adds a light smoked note, with a hint of chocolate malt rounding out the flavor of this Pilsner malt based beer. This beer is lightly hopped to highlight the wood notes. Jim Beam uses heavily charred barrels in order to create a darker, more rich bourbon. These barrels impart sweet notes of caramel and vanilla.
