All new: Topo Maps and Hopo Packs

June 23rd, 2021 (JUNEAU, AK): Alaskan’s irresistible IPA’s are finally getting an “out-of-this-world” package all to themselves. Replacing the boundary range Hop Pack which ran from 2016 until now, the all new Alaskan IPA Pack will feature both the Hopothermia and Husky IPA which served as the backbone of the boundary range bundle. However, unlike the boundary range which featured 2 rotator IPA’s, the IPA pack will feature the same line-up of greats every time: Hopothermia DIPA, Husky IPA, Icy Bay IPA, and Lo-IPA.

A little more on this cast of hoppy characters. The IPA Pack was designed to bring together all of Alaskan’s fan-favorite IPA’s in one place. Proudly displayed in front of a topographic view of the globe, each beverage brings something special to the mix.
The longest running beverage of the bunch, the Icy Bay premiered in 2007. It was our take on a classic West Coast IPA. Featuring a mouthwatering blend of Cascade, Bravo, Calypso, Summit and Apollo hops the Icy Bay presents a distinctly hoppy flavor with a crisp, dry finish. Clocking in at 65 IBU and 6.2% the Icy Bay is the ideal companion for a day on the beach, a laid back lunch, or that 5 o’clock brew.

Next in the line-up, is the Hopothermia. Brewed to be our boldest ever IPA, the Hopothermia has lived up to its name. This American Double IPA starts in the brew kettle with a blend of Nugget and Apollo hops. The blend imbues the brew with a distinct green, a floral aroma and a citrus-y base. Later on, Amarilla, Citra, and Centennial hops are added to provide notes of spicy grapefruit and orange which compliment the resilient malt profile. Packing a hoppy punch, the Hopothermia rings in at about 8.5% ABV and 70 IBU. It’s the perfect drink for seizing the night whether chilling out at home, enjoying a meal, or committing to many memories (or a lack thereof) in the morning.

The Husky IPA was an instant success. Originally craft back in 2015, the brew was inspired by the athletic Alaskan Husky. Using the glacier-fed water we use in all of our brews, the Husky simply incorporates Mosaic hops and premium Pilsen malts to deliver a beverage with brilliant clarity and smooth notes of stone fruit, tangerine, and papaya. With 7% ABV, and merely 50 IBU, the brew is a balanced, tasty option for liquid leisure.

Lastly, the baby of the bunch is our Lo-IPA. Only a year old, the Lo-IPA spits in the face of everything you know about IPAs. At only 4.5% ABV and 45 IBU, the Lo-IPA is an incredibly light and smooth twist on the standard IPA. Using Mosaic and Citra hops, the drink exhibits a pleasant hoppiness alongside citrus notes. Recommended for those who are just beginning to dip their toes into the IPA scene or those looking for easy drinking, without sacrificing flavor.

The new IPA Packs will be rolling out to replace the boundary range in stores all over the nation. Check out beer finder at https://alaskanbeer.com/find-our-beer/ to see if it’s in stores near you.

Enough talk. We’re thirsty.
