Hazy Bay Juicy IPA

Hazy Bay Juicy IPA

Hazy Bay Juicy IPA

A juicy and flavorful hazy IPA with a prominent hop character reflecting fresh citrus, tropical fruit, and stone fruit flavor.

Flavor

Hazy Bay IPA is a juicy and flavorful hazy IPA with moderate hop aroma and bitterness. The aroma and flavor have a light malt character with prominent hop character that reflects fresh citrus, tropical fruit, and stone fruit flavor. Some of the hazy character in this beer comes from our use of Alaska-grown white wheat from VanderWeele Farms in Palmer, Alaska. At 200 acres, VanderWeele Farm is one of the largest in Alaska, and grows not only grain, but a variety of crops during the long summer days of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. This full-bodied beer has a creamy mouthfeel, and a toasty, soft finish.

Ingredients

Hazy Bay IPA is made from glacier-fed water and features Pale, Victory, Munich, and C-30 malts, brumalt, unmalted oats, raw wheat, and a combination of Sultana, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Citra hops.

History

Our independent craft beer compatriots in New England are rightly credited with the development of the hazy style of IPAs, as they looked to accentuate the juicy notes of hops without adding extra bitterness to their brews. Within the last few years, this style has erupted in popularity, with beer drinkers lining up for the irresistible combination of smooth mouthfeel and tangy tropical flavor. Our take of this style incorporates a variety of hops we love from the Pacific Northwest, added late in the brew to bring out all the fresh fruit and citrus without overly-bittering the beer.
