JUNEAU, AK (March 30th, 2022): In the rest of the world, showing up to an interview in a hoodie would be a major faux paus. However in Alaska, showing up in a tie or heels would draw laughter. Laid back as the dress code may be there’s one universal rule that every Alaskan knows: when it comes to shoes – there’s only one choice.
XtraTuf brand boots are essential equipment across Alaska, for deckhands on Bering Sea crabbers, floatplane pilots along the Inside Passage and even Alaskan Brewing’s own brewers and packagers. They’ve even earned the nickname, Juneau Sneakers. In homage to these boots with something extra, Alaskan’s newest beer, Imperial IPA packs a little extra with 8.5% ABV, 60 IBUs and our custom hop tread design across the label inspired by these iconic boots.
Rich in color and full in flavor, Imperial IPA is loaded with Pacific Northwest hops over a sturdy malt body. Designed with balance in mind, the aroma features hints of tangerine and other citrus with the toasted sweetness of crystal malt. The green and resinous aromas of Chinook and Amarillo hops waft over the robust bitterness of Centennial hops before finishing with the dry warmth of an imperial strength IPA.
This limited-edition Alaskan Pilot Series brew is a nod to our popular Rough Draft local release and 22 oz bottling of Alaskan Imperial IPA with our favorite brand of boots (with their permission) just a few years back.
